Nuria Amat. Traducir la ambigüedad

Abstract

La escritura de Nuria Amat, una de las mejores escritoras españolas contemporáneas, se mueve en terrenos propios de la frontera: entre géneros, entre ficción y realidad y, por último, entre lenguas, ya que, siendo su lengua materna el catalán, la autora escribe en un castellano que no le pertenece, que hace suyo con esfuerzo y dedicación – porque, como ella misma afirma, «escribir es traicionar el lenguaje constantemente» –. Consideramos, por todo ello – siguiendo, entre otros, los estudios de Homi Bhabha –, que la literatura de Amat tiene mucho que ver con la llamada “literatura híbrida”, hija de una contemporaneidad formada por muchos mundos que se interrelacionan. Con motivo de la reciente traducción (2015) para la EUM de Macerata de una de sus obras más significativas, El ladrón de libros (1988), nos proponemos indagar en esas diversas formas de ambigüedad e hibridación para ver si se transmiten a la traducción, y de qué forma.

The writing of Nuria Amat, one of the best contemporary Spanish writers, moves in borderland: borderland between genres, between fiction and reality and, finally, a linguistic borderland because, though their mother tongue is Catalan, she writes in a Spanish that does not belong to her, that endorses with effort and dedication – because «writing is to betray the language constantly» –. We believe, therefore – following, among others, Homi Bhabha – that Amat literature relates to the “hybrid literature”, daughter of a contemporaneity consisting of many worlds that interrelate. Because of the recent translation (2015) for the EUM of Macerata of one of her most significant works, El ladrón de libros (1988), we intend to investigate the various forms of ambiguity and hybridity to see if they have been transmitted to the translation, and how.
